Does TamilNadu really need a Second Capital?
No need for a second capital in Tamil Nadu! Why?
Tamil Nadu is one of the leading states in India. The capital of Tamil Nadu - Chennai, like almost all other states, is located in a corner. Is that why we need a second capital? If so, I would say no. Having dealt with the past without transportation and telecommunications, we need to think about why today. Corona is changing our lives even more and taking us all the way into the digital world. Today the demand for a second capital is meaningless. How many times you had to go to the capital? Once, twice? That's it. If we say for the court, there is already a bench of the High Court in Madurai! What is the problem then? If you show your hand to Andhra Pradesh, the situation is different there. The capital is going to be the third. They are going to set up a capital for the judiciary, a capital for the administration, a capital where the legislature will be. You can't do that here! Secondly, there is no point in building an assembly in Madurai and holding one or two meetings annually. It is a waste of government money. Even if Madurai is made as the second capital, as others say, jobs and employment will not be generated easily. You also need to understand that it is under the guidance of the government. If the government thinks, it can create job opportunities in Madurai without making it a sub-capital.
Why is the issue that has not been raised for so long being raised today?
They are stirring this up for the vested interest account of a few. It's purely vote bank politics. So don't get into this.
